The Asus ROG Strix XG17 is the first portable gaming monitor from the Taiwanese manufacturer. The 17.3-inch display offers a gaming-friendly 240 Hz refresh rate and has a 3 ms response time that should help games look as smooth as their developers intended them to be. Although the XG17 offers a large 17.3-inch solution, it is less than half-an-inch thick so should fit without issue into a packed backpack.
The Asus ROG Strix XG17 has a native resolution of 1920×1080 and delivers wide viewing angles thanks to its IPS type panel. According to Asus, the XG17 has viewing angles of 178° and can maintain bright colors so that viewers sitting at the side can enjoy the gameplay on the screen.
Fortunately, the Asus ROG Strix XG17 portable gaming monitor has a matte screen and is surrounded by a metal chassis, meaning it should be reasonably durable and simple to keep clean. The device comes with a foldable cover that can be used as a stand, and the monitor has been configured with a micro-HDMI port and 1 W stereo speakers. Asus has yet to announce the price of the 240 Hz-capable XG17, but it should be made available soon.
