McCaw averaged only 4.0 points per game in 128 regular-season from 2016-18
The Golden State Warriors made it clear they wanted Patrick McCaw to be a part of their future but he had other plans; he wanted out of Golden State.
Why would the 2x NBA Champion want to leave an organization like the Warriors?
The guard had his reasons and got his wish in December when the Warriors declined to match the offer sheet he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
McCaw’s stint with the Cavs didn’t last long. He was waived 11 days later before his contract would become guaranteed.

He ended up with the Raptors and will now face his former team in the 2019 NBA Finals.
McCaw spoke with ESPN’s The Unfeated, Marc Spears, and explained ‘his mysterious departure from the Warriors.’
“I could say it was playing time, but I think it was just me being emotional as a kid,” said McCaw. “I just wanted more. Not necessarily more playing time, but more opportunity for myself. I’m not discrediting the Warriors and what they chose to do. I just think being a young kind, you see all the younger guys competing and doing their thing and you feel like, OK, I’m just that kid, or could be doing exactly what he’s doing.”
McCaw went on to say that he believes the Raptors can defeat the Warriors in the NBA Finals:
“We got a shot. They have to come here first. That’s a big advantage. My first two years, the Warriors always had home-court advantage, if I’m not mistaken. That is definitely an advantage for Toronto.”
