The symbolic structure of Detroit’s blighted building problem, a property in Detroit was slated for demolition. But, Nya Marshall had other ideas.

Pontiac’s citizens gather to remember victims of violence on Memorial Day

The sound was heaven.
“We’ll flood the streets with justice we freedom bound.”
Many in Pontiac gathered in song, in prayer and as one Monday, to memorialize everyone victimized by violence. At Indian Village Park, those residents planted stakes with succinct eulogies for many who have died in tragic cases.

Detroit Police looking for help after women’s body discovered on city’s East Side

On a day of remembrance, many community members found themselves gathering on an east side neighborhood for a much more gruesome purpose.
This gathering comes after a discovery was made near Canfield Street and Pennsylvania Street. The body of a female left in the road. Police reported to the scene around 11:30 Monday morning.
“She does appear to have trauma to right side of her head but right now we can’t say what cause her death is,” said Lashanna Potts, a captain with Detroit Police Department.
