ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WTHR) — More than $1 million worth of drugs washed up on an Alabama beach over the course of two days last week.

People found 21 pounds of marijuana and a kilo of cocaine while walking on Orange Beach, police told WPMI. On another day, someone else found 38 kilos of cocaine.

Police say the drugs were still wrapped when they were found. Investigators believe the drugs were thrown from a boat, and likely a while ago because barnacles were growing on the packages.

Local police, with the help of federal investigators, are looking at data showing water currents to help determine where the drugs came from.
