Today Dave Zatz who has a reputation for spotting unannounced devices going through the FCC approval process reported that Sling TV has an AirTV 2 in the works. This comes from an FCC filing for a new device spotted by Dave Zatz. Very little is known about the new AirTV as all we have is a basic model name of AIRTV 2 and FCC ID of DKN-ATV2.

So what is the AirTV? With the AirTV you can combine your antenna and Sling TV guide into a single user interface that has ESPN right next to your local ABC from your antenna. Just recently Sling TV even added the ability to DVR shows from your antenna.

You do not need a Sling TV subscription to use an AirTV has Sling TV offers a standalone AirTV app. There is also no subscription to use the AirTV DVR feature making it a cheap DVR option to stream your antenna out to multiple devices. Making the AirTV popular with many cord cutters looking for a cheap OTA DVR.

The question now is what will the Sling TV AirTV 2 be? Will it be an Android TV streaming player like the current white AirTV. Or will it be a network device that streams your antenna out to multiple TVs like the black AirTV? For now, we will have to wait and see what happens.

If you do want a cheap AirTV right now you can get an AirTV Player with tuner and a $25 Sling TV credit for just $69.92. Or get the dual-tuner AirTV DVR for just $79.99.
